n° 171 – March 2021

Non-ferrous prices have continued to surge amid high demand and a shortage of supplies.

A number of factors has led to this stagnant supply, including a winter season in which scrap collections were slow. Furthermore, owing to high inflation rates globally and increased pricing, a lot of material has been moved and recycled. And finally, shipping delays have added to the shortages, with some vessels taking twice the normal time to reach their final destinations.

COVID cases are still being reported and the government is encouraging the strict enforcement of standard operating procedures. Chinese and Russian vaccines are available in Pakistan although, in the first phase, these are only for front-line health workers and senior citizens.
