Quarterly Report – July 2021

Every day is a new day in our business, presenting new challenges and new obstacles to contend with. We manage more obstacles than we do material; it’s the nature of the business. 2020 and 2021 have been like nothing we’ve ever experienced before: trends, seasonality, nothing has been predictable so far. One thing for certain, however, is that our industry has continued to be on the receiving end of regulations from people trying to regulate what they don’t understand.

We all need to take more interest in BIR. BIR is the voice of our industry and helps other associations throughout the world. What happens in Europe extends throughout the world and vice versa. I implore you to reach out and make a difference through BIR. New positions are always available on the Shredder and Ferrous boards. We’re always looking for fresh new leadership, so please contact us at any time to show your interest.

This summer, there are not a whole lot of travel options as COVID and its new variants continue to affect our world, and so we find ourselves working more. Even in the quiet of the summer period, we’re enjoying a relatively strong and stable market. I can only imagine what the autumn will bring for us all.

I wish you all a pleasant and safe summer, and look forward to seeing you at our next event in Brussels - in person!
